Diarist A06 Day06

3 am: Randomly awaken in the middle of the night and watch national news until I get sleepy again.

8am: Woke up much later than usual. Dogs let me sleep in! S is in Indy with his dad and he is usually the early riser, so we slept in longer today. Fed all the pets after everyone went outside. Made coffee and spilled grounds everywhere that I had to clean up. No pet messes on the floor to clean; good! No substitute teaching today, so I am off work.

8:30 am: Sit down at computer to read email and check in on FB. Also sitting down with bills and wallet to balance checkbook on computer. Have 3 accounts to balance. One is rental house we have for my mother. I pay some the old fashioned way by check, some online, and some via autopay. It would probably be easier to have them all on autopay. How on earth can I be off my main account by exactly $55.55? That is creepy weird. Odometer in the car in the garage sits at 188,888 right now, too. Palindrome numbers and repetitive numbers awakens some sort of autistic-like part of my brain I guess. Also got involved carrying backyard hose down to basement to drain and coil and store.

10 am: got the check book discrepancy down to a lower figure, but still puzzled as to where it occurred. Got a long to-do list today, so gotta quit screwing around online. Went into kitchen and found one of these new nail caps for my cat had fallen off, but it scared the bejesus out of me since my first thought was it was the whole toe that fell off! I bought bright red nail caps to keep my B&W male cat from destroying things in my house. (The color color looks great with his coloring!) –but seeing the nail cap was disturbing, so not sure how long this experiment will continue. They syaed on less than 48 hours with just the one fallen off so far.

10:30 am: mom calls and needs a ride downtown. I agree to meet her at 11:15. Work on some house chores; strip bed and start washing pillows in the washer.

11:10 am: dogs get let out then I take mom and sister downtown to meet mom’s friend for lunch or something

11:30 am: head to dad’s apt to take his laundry back. Either mom or I do his laundry each week, but I always do the laundry pick-up and delivery. At dad’s house, I get involved in searching for a lost shoe. Took 40 minutes and lots of sidetracked tasks before I find it hanging in a shoe organizer on the back of his bedroom door. No other shoes are in the organizer. It was under a large sweater also hanging on the back of the door. Dad’s apt is very neat as he tidies things up regularly and he has a home health aide that comes three times a day. She arrived as I was looking for the shoe and helped me in the search. I eat some of dad’s fridge leftovers as a quick lunch. Set up his meds and talk to his aide to rearrange Thanksgiving shifts and tonight’s dinner shift as he will go out to eat with us to celebrate my mom’s (his ex-wifes) birthday tonight.

12:45 pm: head back home. Get another load of laundry going and wash my female dog that has a skin disorder. Need to start chopping up leaves at mom’s rental house.

1:20 pm: Get dressed in raggedy clothes to tackle leaves for several hours. I mulch them up for compost that gets used in my flower beds and on my garden. They don’t go to the curb.

2:30 pm: Mower battery runs out of juice. Have to stop on the leaves and recharge it. Another laundry load and a cherry pie break.

3:30 pm: back at the leaves. Finish job, then home to shower.

4 pm: sit down to watch Breaking Bad dvds. I’m on the last season of the borrowed dvds. Only got in one episode.

5 pm: need to get ready for Mom’s birthday dinner out with family

5:22 pm: go pick up mother and sister, then head to Dad’s apt for dinner at Applebees. They tell me about how “Feed My SHeep” charity lost their supply of food d/t the Muncie tornado a few weeks back. Not sure I understood how it occurred but make note to google later.

6:30 pm: Finally get seated at the restaurant. Saw another patron with a flyer about raising money for Feed My Sheep by dining at Applebees, so we decide to ask our server how we can do that without the flyer. Nice meal, but the plate I got was supposed to have artichokes and spinach, and there were only 2 slivers of artichoke in it. Same problem with that dish last time I ordered it 6 or so months ago. I don’t care for that restaurant, but mom wanted to go there. Waitress allowed us to donate part of the meal purchase amount to the charity when I asked. Ppl at table next to us got up and introduced themselves as representatives of Feed My Sheep and thanked us for helping them out. How serendipitous! They gave us the flyer we were missing, but the waitress already rang it up to go toward their charity. I left the flyer out front in the waiting area of the rest. for another group to use.

8 pm: Took family home. Went home to my dogs and fed all the pets. Tummy upset from meal and had to use restroom STAT. Oy. This is why I dislike restaurants. My body does not care for rich food. I mostly eat totally plain things at home with no sauce or anything but salt and butter.

8:30 pm: on the computer wasting time on FB and googling the Feed My Sheep info. No more tummy issues

9:30 pm: Wait, where did that last hour just go?! Going to get cocktail and go to bed watching tv or doing a crossword puzzle.
