  1. How long have you lived here? I have lived in Muncie since August of 1987

If you were not born here, indicate where you came from and why.  I was born at Grissom Air Force Base because my Dad was in the military & stationed at that base.  I ended up in Muncie because I went to & graduated from Ball State University.

  1. Are you happy with where you live? Do you feel like you belong? I do like living in Muncie. I have lived in Muncie longer than anywhere else in my life so it is home for me now.  I think there are opportunities in Muncie that are not in other mid-west towns

  1. Do you expect to stay here for long? What are or will be some of the considerations in deciding how long you stay here? I imagine I will finish out my working career in Muncie as my husband’s line of work does not lend itself to him re-locating. Our plan when we retire is to move to the mountains in Tennessee.

  1. How would you describe Muncie to someone who has never been here? What are its most distinctive characteristics? As a pleasant mid-size town in the Midwest that has rivers & pleasant places to walk. It is a town that has a nice sized university that affords some opportunities other towns do not have.  It is close to the State’s capital, which has additional opportunities.  Muncie has a long history of  corruption in its politics & a “good ol boy” way of doing things which typically is not in the best interest of its constituents.  On the other hand there definitely are people and foundations (Like the Ball foundation) looking to make our community a better one.

  1. Do you think the ways other people think about Muncie are the same ways you think about it? I’m not really sure, I’m sure it varies depending on whom you talk with. I do hear a number of people bad mouth Muncie and to them I would say, “Feel free to move”.

How do you your thoughts and feelings about Muncie differ from its public image (from media or word-of-mouth around the state and beyond)? Not really sure…

  1. What are your feelings about Muncie’s future? I am optimistic that some things might be moving toward making things better.

What are your hopes for Muncie? That it will continue to grow and provide opportunities so others will want to live and work here.

How do you think Muncie will fare in the years ahead? I think Muncie will continue to look for new opportunities and thrive

What changes do you expect? I am hoping there will be people elected into government who will be looking out for the welfare of those who live here instead of what perks they can create for themselves.
