7:30 – Alarm went off and I laid in be a while. I didn’t sleep well the night before, so I felt tired. I got up about 7:50. Immediately took a bath and got dressed to go to Indianapolis. I grabbed a protein drink to have on the drive and left the house about 8:30.
I got to my youngest daughter’s house about 9:30. We talked a bit and then she left for a doctor’s appointment. She was gone until about 11:30. I babysat my 3-year old grandson. We played with his toys and pretended the dog was a lion! I read him half a dozen books.
When my daughter returned, it wasn’t very long before a friend of mine came by to visit a bit. She brought a pizza, fruit, and a hostess plant for my daughter. We ate and then my grandson took a nap. When he got up, we were still talking. We played with him and visited until about 3:45. At that time, y friend left, and I prepared to leave and drive back to Muncie.
On my way out of town, I stopped at the Allisonville Nursery for a look at their fall decorations and plants. I didn’t buy anything, but they have nice items and healthy plants. When I left, traffic was heavy and the construction on HWY 69 continues to be dangerous and annoying. I was glad to get home but felt happy from the fun visits of the day.
My husband and I got a carry in dinner and ate outside on our patio. It was very warm today, probably close to 90. By dinner time, though, it was very pleasant, and the air was still. After dinner, he and I did a crossword puzzle together. We have been doing them together for years and it helps us to pool our information.
Even though I’m retired, I have stayed active in my professional organization, the National College Learning Center Organization. Tomorrow is the start of the national conference in Louisville. I am riding there with a friend and participating in 2 conference sessions. I don’t feel as prepared as in the past, but these are group events so I hope it will all be OK. I spent time in the evening completing my packing and getting organized for the conference. I also did a few things around the house like watering the plants, but my heart wasn’t really into it so not much else will get done before I go.
The past couple of nights, we have been watching Ken Burns’ Country Music series. We have found it very interesting. Tonight there’s a ball game that my husband is watching so we’ll finish watching the recordings when I return home. I will go to bed about 10.
