Diarist G58 Day 19

  Diary Day – April 4, 2022

10:30 p.m. – Sunday (4.3.22) – Went to bed.

A.M.

5:20 Woke up, bathroom, brush teeth, take morning pills. Though we are retired, I still wake up early.

5:40 Go to Home Office, where I kneel for Morning Prayer, and thank God for another day, and ask for guidance in our lives, that would be additionally helpful at this time.

5:45 My wife and I are both 77 years old, and have been married 57 years.  We have moved 7 times from one state to another, and ended up where we began in Muncie, Indiana.  We came back 5 years ago after being away for 43 years, to be a support for family that still lived here.  After we had moved back for two years, both of our daughters (who were born in Muncie also) moved back to be supportive of us.  One from Colorado, and the other from Tennessee.

The daughter that moved from Colorado had boughten a restored home near downtown.  She has since decided to buy a house near the reservoir, that would additionally accomodate us.  She gets possession in a couple of weeks, so she is getting ready to list her current house.  Once she gets possession, we will be able to completely plan the sale of our home and move in with her.  There will be plenty of room for each of us, but we are using this opportunity to downsize; therefore, this Diary Day is also a Downsize Day for us.

Earlier this year, I had a stimulator device installed internally in my back to help releave my back pain.  Everyday I have to recharge the internal stimulator battery using a special remote charger, then recharge the remote too.  The charging of the stimulator takes about 30 minutes, which I do during devotions, while journaling, or working on personal finances.  Today, I am creating a list of items in our home that need to be set up for staging, and storage, and ultimately for selling, donating, or moving. The list is 8 pages long.

8:15 Our current home has 4 bedrooms upstairs, and to keep my wife from having to climb up or down the stairs too much, I usually offer to get her breakfast, plus the newspaper.  We are vegetarians, so I had a veggie taco and chick pea veggie bowl, which I ate while my wife ate her breakfast.  I return to updating my House Closing list.

9:30 Today is the first Monday of the month; therefore, it is my haircut day since I have a standing appointment, right after the haircut of a good friend from church.  I head to the barbershop so there will be time for a short visit before his appointment.

10:20 After my haircut, I head to our tax accountant’s office.  We had our taxes done a couple of weeks ago, but the Indiana Department of Revenue had some questions.  On my way to the accountants office, I see a lady walking while pulling a folding cart behind her full of food.  As I pass her I notice that she is a friend of ours.  Her and her disabled husband attend our church, and knowing that she is still a couple of miles from her home, I offer a ride, which she accepts.

10:50 Back en route to the accountant’s office, for which I have no appointment, I check in at the front desk, since there is a full waiting room.  I said that I would like for them to review it, and that I was not in a big hurry. While waiting to be seen, I continue working on my list of home sale projects.  Considering the space of each of our rooms in our new home, compared to our current home, there will be a great deal of downsizing required, so I am creating a master list by room, with essentially all items of furniture, or otherwise by category.  Then once the items are listed by room, my wife and I will together select a status for each item, such as: L=Leave, M=Money (selling), D=Donate, K=Keep, or ?=Undetermined.  I meet with the accountant, and it was determined that the other accountant at the firm had made an error.

P.M.

12:10 I head home with the good news that I will be sharing with my wife about our taxes.

12:30 I arrive home, and after explaining the taxes stenario,  ate some lunch, then I started loading items to take to storage into my car.

4:25 A friend arrived who had offered to help, so we finished loading my car, and his, then headed to the storage facility to unload.  After unloading, I locked the storage unit and we headed to our homes.

6:25 Once I arrived home from the storage unit, my wife mentioned her concern for her sister’s mood, so we drove over to her home for a visit.  We took our dog to socialize with her dog.

7:20 After a nice visit, we headed home.

7:40 Once we arrived at home, I dropped my wife off, and I headed to the store to pick up some food items we were needing.  Upon returning home, I put the food items away.

8:25 I head upstairs and return to working on the House Closing list.

9:45 It has been a long and busy day, so I take my nighttime pills and gladly prepare for worship, and then bed, where I pray before falling to sleep. – Monday (4.4.22) – Went to bed.
