EDLM Summer Directive 2024 Overview
Each summer, we invite contributors to delve into specific aspects of everyday life through a set of prompts known as Directives, inspired by Mass Observation. This year, we asked our diarists to explore two significant themes:
Home Life:
- What does “home” mean to you?
- Describe your living space and your feelings about it.
- Discuss your favorite and least favorite aspects of your home.
- Share how your home influences your stress levels or provides comfort.
- Talk about those you share your home with and how you manage it.
Religious and Spiritual Practices:
- Describe your religious or spiritual beliefs and their impact on your daily life.
- If you identify as agnostic, atheist, or secular, what fulfills the role of religion or spirituality for you?
- Discuss any routine practices connected to your beliefs and the benefits they bring.
- Reflect on your current beliefs and practices, including any challenges or desired changes.
Our diarists have responded with a rich variety of personal stories, reflections, and observations. We invite you to explore these responses and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse ways in which our contributors experience and interpret these themes.
